Washed Out

As the century embarks on its difficult adolescent decade, we as listeners must also grow and mature. Luckily, several ambitious upstarts are lurking, ready to help us adjust; to open our minds and deliver us from naivety in 2010, and beyond.
One such pioneer is Georgia based instrumentalist Ernest Greene, aka Washed Out, who's soothing blend of synth pop urges the listener to relax and take stock this year. With sundrenched tracks like 'Belong' and 'You'll See It' dripping with soul, its hard not imagine Washed Out sound tracking hazy Sundays, or indeed lazy summer evenings. The minimal quality to Greene's current repertoire allows the gentle synth melodies and crunchy drum beats, with the odd sample thrown in, to fuse creating a breath of fresh air, in turn mirroring Greene's shimmering alias. This can be heard best in 'Feel It All Around', a dream state of sounds wrapped up with ethereal lyrics that calms the mind.
With a debut album just around the corner, and several sneaky snippets on Skins promos already circulating; 2010 is set to be a blissed out start to the decade, with the perfect soundtrack from Washed Out.
