The Boxer Rebellion: Live @ The Bullingdon Arms: 22nd March

The Bullingdon on the Cowley Road became the unusual setting for a very intimate performance by London based band The Boxer Rebellion on the 22nd March. As the gentle guitar melody of opening track, ‘Semi -Automatic’ filled the room, it was clear that the energy of the band would rise high above the venue’s quaint and subtle charm. Having recently sold out a number of venues, including London’s Dingwalls at the start of February, and with up and coming New York gigs; to see the band in such a small venue was surprising, but equally precious. Fans were treated to a selection of new tracks, including, ‘These Walls Are Thin’, ‘Soviets’ and ‘Forces’ from new album ‘Union’, which has received global critical acclaim following its release in January. Older tracks from debut album ‘Exits’ were also featured, most notably, ‘We Have This Place Surrounded’ and strong set closer, ‘Watermelon’. Other clear examples of the bands magnitude were present in recent single, ‘Evacuate’ which shone energy into the set, as did the soaring epic, ‘Flashing Red Light Means Go’. From this night, it is clear that The Boxer Rebellion have definitely got what it takes to fill any size venue, and captivate audiences all over the world.
