6 Day Riot

Now that spring time has entered the sky, the air and our hearts, all eyes look to the summer, and of good times spent relaxing and generally letting off the happiness. One melody that will surely be softly soaring though your atmosphere exists in the form of 6 Day Riot.
Formed in 2004, the London based 5 piece have been climbing the music scene ranks fast, and are set to be an essential group to open your ears for this year. Some would class the band's alternative folk pop sound alongside current indie darlings, such as Vampire Weekend and Mumford And Sons, but 6 Day Riot yield a distinct charm that holds them high above their contemporaries.
With two glorious albums and several Ep's under their belt already, as well as accolades and high expectations from all directions, the band are proving that they definitely have the potential to blow any competition out of the sun stained water, and all the while with a cheeky grin on their face.
The albums themselves draw the listener in with a unique blend of energetic folk ballads, to more melancholic tales of heartbreak, in turn creating an atmosphere to the assortment of both sunlight and shade. Lead singer, Tamara Schlesinger enhances this tone with her sultry and enchanting vocals, whilst the rest of the band adds a sprinkling of elegance and delicacy to the songs, again drenching the listener in springtime.
With a string of live dates around the country throughout the year, and several tracks featured on the current series of Skins, and a growing following quick in tow; the band are unavoidable in 2010. So, grab their albums, get out in the sun, and get happy!
